Call for panellists for 2nd Intersessional Consultation with the Ad Hoc Committee


In relation to the work of the Ad Hoc Committee to Elaborate a Comprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes, reference is made to paragraph 10 of resolution 75/282, in which the General Assembly encouraged the Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee to host intersessional consultations to solicit inputs from a diverse range of stakeholders on the elaboration of the draft convention.

At its session on organizational matters, on 24 February 2022, the Ad Hoc Committee, recalling paragraph 9 of General Assembly resolution 75/282 of 26 May2021, decided to approve the participation of the Institut de diplomatie publique in the Ad Hoc Committee ( see Annex I, Decision I, Report of the Ad Hoc Committee to Elaborate aComprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes on its session on organizational matters held on 24 February 2022 ).

Report of the Ad Hoc Committee on 24 February 2022



In accordance with resolution 75/282 and the “Road map and mode of work for the Ad Hoc Committee”, approved by the Ad Hoc Committee in its first session (see Annex II of the report of the first session, available here), and paragraph 4 of the “Modalities of the participation of multi-stakeholders in the Ad Hoc Committee”, annexed to the report of the Ad Hoc Committee’s session on organizational matters (available here), the second intersessional consultation will be held in Vienna on 13 and 14 June 2022.


On behalf of the Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee, H.E. Ms. Faouzia BOUMAIZA MEBARKI, multi-stakeholders, as indicated in paragraphs 7, 8 and 9 of General Assembly resolution 75/282 (the list of other relevant non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions and the private sector, approved by the Ad Hoc Committee to participate in its work in line with paragraph 9 of General Assembly resolution 75/282, is available in Annex I of the report of the Ad Hoc Committee’s session on organizational matters, available here) will be invited to the meeting. A circular via email with further information, including on the registration process, will follow shortly.

The representatives of the above-mentioned multi-stakeholders may serve as panellists in one of the panels of the intersessional consultations, which will address the following topics to be considered among others by the Ad Hoc Committee in its third session: “International Cooperation”, “Technical Assistance”, “Preventive Measures” and “Mechanism of Implementation”. These panels will precede discussions on the same topics. An agenda is attached and a timetable will be made available closer to the dates of the second intersessional consultation.

Representatives of the organizations that fall under one of the above-mentioned categories and wish to serve as panellists, may send an e-mail expressing their interest to the secretariat of the Ad Hoc Committee at cybercrimeahc@un.org, with information on the name and title of the representative, the name of the relevant organization and the topic on which the panellist will present, as soon as practical and at the latest by close of business on Wednesday, 11 May 2022. Requests will be taken into account based on geographical and gender balance, and information will be provided to those panellists in due course.
