Doctor/Ph.D. member- Dr. Wisnu Adihartono

Dr. Wisnu Adihartono is a sociologist and independent researcher,

Doctor in Sociology from Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) Marseille – France.

He is very interested in Sociology of Gender, Gay and Lesbian Studies, Sociology of Migration, and Sociology of the Family. His interest in gay studies, made him write some articles about homosexuality in Indonesia published in Huffington Post (France edition, in french language), La Gazette de Bali (in french language), The Jakarta Post, Amsterdam Social Science’s website, and many Indonesian media’s onlines.

His PhD research examines the migration and family relationships of Indonesian gays in Paris. Why are the reasons for moving to Paris and after their stay in Paris, whether they are still in contact with their nuclear family in Indonesia or in the most extreme cases, they are no longer in touch with their families. He did his seminar about his PhD works for Indonesia Study Group (ISG), Asia Research Institute (ARI), National University of Singapore (NUS).

He produced a Working Paper published by City University of Hong Kong as he was there as a Short-Term Visiting Researcher as well as giving a public seminar.

He has received scholarships from the French and the Indonesian governments, and research funds from the Ford Foundation Indonesia. He graduated from École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), France in 2015.
