Olabisi Omolayo Irinoye is a lawyer with sixteen years’ experience most of
which has been in the Legislative arm of Government. Bisi’s work experience
has been with different Senators in different Assemblies but twice with the
Senate Committee on Health.
She was the Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Olanrewaju Tejuoso who was
the Chairman, Senate Committee on Health in the 8 th Assembly.
Olabisi has acted in different capacities especially in the areas of coordination,
liaison and representation. She has also worked on different motions, bills and
speeches. One of the major landmarks of Sen. Tejuoso, the Chairman, Senate
Committee on Health and the National Assembly is the push for sustainable
financing of Universal Health Coverage. This was achieved by the setting
aside of One Percent Consolidated Revenue Fund that led to the setting aside
of N55.7 billion by the National Assembly which the Federal Government
also released for implementation for the first time since the passage of the
2014 National Health Act. This one percent CRF is to provide a minimum
package of basic health services to vulnerable Nigerians including pregnant
women and children less than five years of age. Bisi currently works with the
Deputy Senate President.
