Background

The United Nations Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Implementation of the Objectives of the International Decade for Action on “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 (“the United Nations 2023 Water Conference”) is scheduled to take place at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 22 to 24 March 2023, in accordance with United Nations General Assembly resolutions 73/226 and 75/212.

The Conference, co-hosted by the Governments of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs serving as the Conference Secretariat, with the support of UN-Water, aims to accelerate action on the internationally agreed water-related goals and targets, including those contained in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

For more information about the event, please visit the official website.

In order to collectively prepare for the Conference, Doctor/Ph.D. members of the Institute initiated a series of consultations, and dialogues, primarily within civil society as well as with other stakeholders.

The purpose of these discussions is to advocate for the water's thematic priorities by using public diplomacy tools that have already begun to formulate.

In this context, we would like to draw attention of our members to an additional opportunity for members to prepare for the UN 2023 Water Conference, including to encourage their contributions to the Water Action Agenda, by participating in Multi-Stakeholder Thematic Webinars that will be held virtually on 17 and 18 January 2023 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM (EST).
